Nerf One Piece Going Merry Blaster Review

It’s our first 2026 tie-in blaster! Netflix has Season 2 of One Piece coming in March, and that naturally means merchandising. In the case of Hasbro, it means a Nerf blaster collaboration.

The Going Merry blaster fits the pirate theme well, being a cartoonish, single-barrel blaster with a hammer prime. It’s also, interestingly, *still using Elite darts in 2026*. In any case, the value is more in the pretend play than in its usefulness in a Nerf war.

And, as you can see, it gives me an opportunity to use ChatGPT on pictures of my cats!

Y’ARRR ME HEARTIES OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT

The Going Merry blaster, named for the crew’s boat (hey, I only started watching this week, so I’m catching up on everything), is modeled after it, too. The entire blaster looks like a boat, complete with a sheep’s head at the front. The back end, of course, looks like a blaster pistol.

The blaster comes with eight Elite darts, as well as a plastic holster that clips around the blaster. It’s a simple design that just sits on the fabric of your waist or pants pocket, with space to store two darts. At the very least, it’s a nice touch, though I’m not sure how well it would hold up to extended running or movement. Then again, someone like me running around everywhere in a competitive event isn’t the intended audience!

In any case, It’s easy to pull the blaster outward from your leg to unclip it from the holster.

The blaster is simple to operate: pull down the hammer to prime the spring, load a dart in the front, point, and fire. Need I say more?

Performance

The Going Merry blaster averaged 67fps in my testing with the included darts. Actual rate of fire is a bit hard to gauge, since there’s only one shot, but if you have darts handy, one dart every two seconds is possible.

Internals

That’s a lot of open space!

The blaster uses the same setup as past entries like the Hammershot, but due to the length of the blaster, there’s a very long piece of plastic connecting the powertrain to the plunger.

I don’t see much extra modification potential aside from possibly an upgraded spring…but I’ve been wrong before. I’ll leave it for others to try and figure out – I’ll just settle for having fun with the blaster.

Final Thoughts

The One Piece Going Merry blaster isn’t doing anything new, but it doesn’t need to. It’s here to be a fun television tie-in for fans of the series! Whether that applies to you is another matter…but I’m at least enjoying the show so far.
