All my game footage is processed, and all the photos are finally uploaded!
This past Memorial Day weekend, Survival Fest held its latest iteration, Overclocked, at Ohio University. Humans battled against an AI that was slowly converting our fellow humans in an attempt at world domination. And, as per usual, we had a ton of fun!
Day One: Convention and Mission Zero
The Convention part of the day was set up in the Ping Recreation Center, with tables ranging from regional clubs to vendors to sign-in/blaster checks.
Of course, some of the fun is a bit…large and destructive.
After the convention (and a rainy afternoon), we proceeded to have our Mission Zero, where we have a fun pre-game plot, everyone is expected to die, and the real game begins on Saturday. I got to try our Gemeneye’s Xshot Shell Ejector Talon kit (more on that in a future post).
Day Two – The Main Game!
Given the wet state of things, I chose to stick with springers where possible, instead of potentially getting wet darts and finding out how those interact with flywheels. For Mission One, however, I ended up on Troll Squad, playing as a zombie and harassing humans. I didn’t get a tag during that mission…but I was able to tag someone at lunch before going back to being human.
The rest of the afternoon saw lots of fun chasing down specials and running for my life. Mission 2 saw lots of use from my Dart Zone Max Volcanic Pro, and Mission 3 used my HvZ-downgraded Xshot Pro Skins Longshot. Sadly, I got tagged ~3 steps from the safe zone during Mission 3. But that just means joining a new team!
Day Three: The Endgame
The last day of play saw many fewer humans, with a near-total wipe during Mission 4. After that, the mods elected to reset the game, allowing people to play human if they so desired. I almost didn’t…but then remembered I had my converted Nerf N-Series Infinite in the trunk. So I finally got to run that for a bit in real life! The humans “won” their objective amid the pouring rain, then continued playing and died.
It was fun to get away from life for a weekend, see friends, and run away from players while firing darts everywhere. 10/10, would recommend!
