Dart Zone Unloads for Fall…But at What Cost?
September 19, 2025Yesterday was a big day: Dart Zone had just started fulfilling Primus orders, and then they dropped the news on social media: a bunch of new blasters were going to be available from them directly, ranging from a brand new pro blaster to a repainted classic. However, the news also brought price tags, and it begs the question: how much is a blaster worth to you?
Volcanic Pro – It’s Getting Hot in Here?
The first item announced was a pro pistol. We’re already getting the Brute at Walmart this year, but now we’re getting one built around a different mechanism. The Volcanic Pro‘s plunger tube sits at the front of the blaster, facing backwards, and feeds up into the barrel. If you’ve seen hobby blasters like the Gecko, you’ll recognize the concept. The blaster also features a detachable BCAR, and has springs and a replacement barrel available if you want to customize it further. But the base blaster sits at $55.
The other brand new options are things we’ve seen hints of: pirate blasters and a bow. Walmart will see a full Pirate Playset, but you can grab a two pack of the blasters for $30. There’s also an archery playset coming to Walmart – it’s been a while since we’ve seen a bow from Prime Time Toys.
Repainting, But More?
That’s not the end of things, however. There is yet another Venom Pro recolor, but this time with UV reactive paint that shifts from pink to purple. And Dart Zone is bringing back the Liberator with a galaxy-motif paint design, and it’s already sold out of the initial run. And yet, the prices are up there at $70 and $40, respectively.
As for accessories, there are clear 15-round mags, Boxer Pro chains, and more…but let’s talk about those prices.
Slightly Informed Opinion Time?
Naturally, I bought everything to play with and review; that’s what I do. But that ended up being quite a bit of money this time around. So for someone looking to buy things on a budget, this absolutely becomes a concern.
The fact that these big ticket items are being offered from Dart Zone directly, and not from Walmart or Target, means we don’t get the discount that comes from mass quantities being ordered for shelves. That, I think, is hurting things more than much of the tariff back-and-forth action that’s been taking place. I remember the first Liberators being around $20, give or take. Double the price for a limited repaint is…a lot. The Venom Pro already jumped to $60 if you were looking for the exclusive blue version, so $70 for this one, even if it looks amazing, is a big ask.
Some of these are already shipping to my address, so reviews will come soon. That said, even if they’re everything you could possibly dream about, holding off is understandable. Make sure you’re buying something you’ll actually use and enjoy – after all, if something like the Brute works for you and you don’t need to shoot harder, is the Volcanic Pro really necessary at more than double the price?
Just something to keep in mind. At any rate, it seems like Dart Zone needs to work harder to convince more stores to carry items so we can all benefit. I wonder if pitching these to Meijer or Menards or other large but regional chains would help…
