Zuru Xshot Caliber Review
October 28, 2024Zuru doesn’t always make “new” blasters – many times, they simply repackage the same blaster in a different shell. Such is the case with the Xshot Caliber, a longer variant of the Reflex that has seen several versions over the years. That’s not a bad thing, in this case. Having a hand cannon with extra dart storage is a fun change of pace, especially for the price.
Long Blaster is Long
The Caliber is lengthened to an absurd extreme compared to the Reflex. The extra-long barrel has six slots for dart storage underneath. The grip is angled back farther than the Reflex. The priming loop is horizontal on this blaster, whereas it was vertical in the old one. The Caliber is clearly meant as a hip-fire blaster, ready for living out your wild west shootout fantasy.
Oddly, there’s picatinny rail along the entire length of the blaster. It’s not like this blaster is meant for having attachments…but given Zuru’s use of rail attachments for the Insanity series, I suppose you could slap the blaster on anywhere you like, as long as there’s space.
Darts can be loaded on either side of the blaster, simply by sliding them into the cylinder from the slots in the shell.
Performance and Gameplay
The Caliber is a fun little blaster to use! On average, I was hitting 87fps with the included darts, and rate of fire averaged two darts per second.
Internals
Admittedly, once you’ve seen one Xshot pistol, you’ve seen them all. See the picture in the gallery above!
Final Thoughts
The Xshot Caliber is a fun little blaster, and while I’ve listed the retail price as $10, I’ve seen it on sale for as low as $5, especially with some store chains stocking toys specifically for the holidays. For a price that low, it’s hard to deny the Caliber’s appeal!
