Adventure Force Delta Pro Review

It’s the first day of spring, and Dart Zone has a bunch of new blasters arriving on Walmart shelves! Ranging from a recolored Nexus Pro X to a brand new flywheel blaster, these entries are super exciting. But to start things off, let’s look at the lower-priced entry.

The brightly-colored Adventure Force Delta Pro clocks in at only $14, but it still packs a punch, whether it’s being used as a secondary blaster or as a fun option for different game types.

THE BLASTER IS BLUE!

The Delta Pro continues the trend of pro blasters with bright colors, and I’m all for it. The bright blue motif will make this a great option for the games I occasionally do in public parks, for one.

The Delta Pro has all the features you’d expect in a pro-level blaster, plus a few surprises. You have two Picatinny rails, one below the barrel and one above it. The top rail has an especially nice touch – there’s a front iron sight that can be retracted when not in use, allowing other rail options to be utilized. There’s an NStrike-style stock attachment point, with a removable cover. That hides the spring rest, which you can take out in order to swap springs (more on that later). Finally, the front of the blaster is shaped so that you can still use barrel attachments like SCAR barrels!

The Delta Pro is roughly the same size as other blasters in its class; if you’ve used a Dart Zone Max Outlaw or Adventure Force Deuce Pro, then you’re familiar with its size. The blaster is basic in operation (prime the top slide, return it, and fire), making it easy to use. The cylinder, however, is integral to the blaster, so you will not be able to remove it. It can be turned by hand, though, and there are loading slots on either side of the blaster. That’s not necessarily bad – it’s a $14 blaster, after all. That’s just the progression of features you get as you spend more money on a blaster (this is a step above things like the Adventure Force Cricket Pro, after all).

Performance

The Delta Pro, in my testing, averages 133fps with fresh Adventure Force Pro darts. Using a Dart Zone-made BCAR dropped numbers (mostly) to high 120s. With a SCAR barrel attached, that number dropped to the 100s-110s, depending on dart quality. There is no slam-fire to speak of, but you can still manage to fire two darts per second.

I look forward to seeing if other reviewers had the same results concerning attachments.

Internals and Mod Potential

The Delta Pro is an interesting mix of traditional revolver and Outlaw-style barrel operation. The barrel retracts on the trigger pull, sealing against the cylinder while pressing it back against the plunger tube gasket. Despite the retracting barrel, the front of the blaster has been widened to allow the use of accuracy attachments. At the same time, if the barrel and trigger are linked…manipulating/hitting the barrel could fire the blaster. To prevent that, there’s an extra safety feature! The trigger pivots slightly against a spring (and out of the way of an internal ridge) when you press it, but it doesn’t pivot if the force comes from pressing in the barrel. I know I wouldn’t have thought about that possibility, so kudos to Dart Zone for solving a potential issue ahead of time.

As for mod potential, there are already some interesting things to highlight. My Delta Pro had two 19mmx14mmx1.6mm spacers on the spring rest; removing those only decreased velocity by ~4fps, but one could in theory print their own spacers for a small boost. The spring is ~145mm long, with 18.2mmOD, 1.5mm wire OD, and one coil per ~10mm, with a bit of wiggle room in terms of spring replacement diameter.

The biggest thing to note, however, is the existence of an upgrade kit from Dart Zone themselves. As of this post, a website entry hasn’t been posted, but the video for upgrading the blaster is already online. The kit would include a metal barrel and a buffer tube stock attachment, along with a stronger spring. We’ll have to wait to see how much the kit boosts performance.

Final Thoughts

The Adventure Force Delta Pro is a great entry for starting the new season. $14 gets a basic revolver-type blaster that still hits hard, and the blaster has plenty of upgrade potential for the diehard hobbyists among us. It’s hard to call this anything but a must-have for the collection.
