Buzz Bee Air Warriors Outlash Review

Somewhere out in the wild, be it in Walmart, Dollar General, or some other store, Buzz Bee has a bolt-action blaster available. It’s one of those few certainties in the blaster world! This year, they’ve released the Outlash. It doesn’t do anything new…but it also doesn’t really have to. If only it was slightly cheaper.

Made for Human(ish) Hands

As always, Buzz Bee has an o/off relationship with body proportions. One day, a blaster will have a handle that fits perfectly. The next, the handle is small, or a stock is near-pointless. Here, the latter is (partially) in play. The Outlaw’s grip is at least large enough for most hands to use (adult pinkies will wrap around the base). But the “stock” is so short that you have to contort your arm to use it. You’re paying for some plastic you can’t use.

On the plus side, that’s the only real downside to this blaster.

The Outlash comes with eight Accublast darts and a magazine. Operation is simple; lift and pull back the bolt, insert the magazine, return the bolt, and fire a dart. Work the bolt again to keep firing darts until empty.

The front “grip” seems more for cosmetics, but it’s useful for steadying your shot. The top rail is, of course, to Buzz Bee specs, so if you happen to have any of their attachments, they can be used here.

Performance

The Outlash averaged 80fps in my testing, and the rate of fire maxed out at on dart every two seconds. When you have a bolt action blaster, firing simply takes time, even if the action itself is fun!

Internals

There’s nothing new on the inside of the blaster. Again, this is just a reshell of typical Buzz Bee work.

Final Thoughts

$16 is admittedly a bit steep for a blaster of this type. Even so, if you (or the kid in your life) likes bolt-action blasters, they won’t be disappointed.
