Gemeneye’s XShot Shell Ejector Talon Magazine Conversion Kit Review
June 17, 2026Let’s get those review posts going again, shall we?
Gemeneye has released 3d printed files for the Xshot Shell Ejector, allowing you to convert it to use half darts and Talon magazines. It’s a nifty kit, and while using shells has a certain appeal, being able to use a bolt-action blaster reliably during Humans v Zombies and other game modes makes for a great time. Here are my results after printing and installing the kit!
No Shell Modification Needed!
This one’s a big deal. The blaster shell itself doesn’t need any bits modified. In fact, there’s only one real area in need of cutting and adhesive application (the front of the plunger tube), and the kit includes a template for cutting the plunger tube correctly. That makes life easy!
The Printables page includes a detailed instruction PDF, making the task even easier. There are a few odds and ends you’ll need, including different sized o-rings, barrel material, and a ball detent. If you don’t have those on hand, you’ll have to order them online.
Once the plunger tube has been cut, and the new breech has been securely glued to it (I used JB Weld, because I like overkill), the blaster can be reassembled. One piece will snap down over the breech hole, and another piece will need to flex slightly in order to bend over the top rail/cosmetic shaping of the blaster and span in place. At that point, you can screw the two breech pieces together, using two screws from the blaster itself.
The kit uses a collet system to secure the new barrel in place. I used a slightly too long barrel, and I also ended up wrapping the barrel in electrical tape to help center it in place.
At Survival Fest 2026, I used this blaster during Mission Zero, wanting to both not deal with electronics during potential rain AND test out something I hadn’t used yet. With a barrel that’s too long, I was still hitting consistent 80+ fps dart velocities, and everything was going straight. I just need to swap the spring with something more more powerful, and that would make the blaster perfect for my uses.
Final Thoughts
Gemeneye’s kit is well-designed. I still want to use shells sometimes, so I’ll need to buy another Shell Ejector…but for the other times when I want something fun and consistent for lower fps game types, this kit is perfect.
