Hasbro Updates: Comic-Con, Patents…Short Darts???

There’s lots going on here at Blasterhub HQ, between testing blasters in actual battles, designing upgrade parts, and editing footage. In the meantime, here are some tidbits from Hasbro concerning the near future!

Nerf Pro Gelfire Returns to San Diego Comic Con

I can’t go this year (that would have meant planning since late last year), but if you’re at SDCC, Hasbro is returning with the Gelfire booth! And with several blasters releasing in the near future, there will be plenty of fun new things to try!

I opted to order things early from Target. The Dual Wield pack should be showing up tomorrow, so early previews/reviews will be coming!

Short Darts at Last?

We’ll let the social media post speak for itself, since Hasbro wouldn’t acknowledge such a thing existing if they didn’t have plans. ESPECIALLY since the initial Nerfball promo footage featured modified Stryfes firing short darts. We shall see next month what they’re talking about!

Accessibility Patents

Finally, there are a couple patents Hasbro has concerning the use of blasters with either upper arm prostheses or, alternatively, underdeveloped hands. It’s cool to see patents demonstrating setups for the differently abled – the illustrations use an Ultra Amp and a Rex Rampage as examples.

I don’t know if or when Hasbro will actually display samples for the media. Considering the relatively small market for these, however, I would hope that it’s more a matter of brand promotion, helping more people to join the battle at low cost, if any. They’d be cool to show off at SDCC or Toy Fair, that’s for sure!
