Out of Darts Releases the Juno Rival Blaster!

I certainly wasn’t expecting this, but I feel like I need one now! Out of Darts, that one guy (and his associates) that brought us the Proton Pack and other fun things, has a successor to the Jupiter now on the website! It promises better performance, features, and free-to-use files for printing or modifying at home! Let’s take a peek!

Maintaining the Naming Scheme

Juno, in Roman mythology, is the wife of Jupiter, queen of the gods. At the very least, OoD is keeping up the naming trend with the successor blaster.

The Juno maintains the general shape and function of the Jupiter, though it aims to do much better. There’s a single, dual-stage trigger, with a 21A switch feeding the whole blaster and a smaller 10A switch dedicated to just the N20 feeding motor. The battery compartment sits on top, with plenty of room for a decently sized Lipo (assuming, of course, you’re not using the blaster with a Proton Pack, which would provide the blaster power).

Up front, there’s a flywheel cage designed for brand new flywheels! These are large, concave flywheels with serrations meant to grip Rival balls well, and hitting 130fps on (presumably) the current design, using Kraken motors. I would personally bet that if the same setup was hooked to a Proton Pack, then on 3s it would shoot slightly slower, just due to the extra wiring, boards, etc. This is perfectly fine for most Humans v Zombies games, anyway!

The Juno has a bunch of ordering options: Hardware only, Hardware + 3d parts, or fully assembled. There are also options for some individual things, like flywheel pairs, magazines, and Proton Pack adapters (again, either hardware only, as the .stls are free on the page, or hardware + printed parts).

I’m excited to see more on this project, and I may have already downloaded all the necessary files to start printing one on my own. So you’ll have a review, eventually, once I get it built!

Finally, there’s one surprise that’s not released yet. “Juno’s Fury” has no info yet, beyond a mention in the assembly manual; when printing the outer handle, you can print a regular one, or a Juno’s Fury handle. The latter has an open slot at the bottom, along with an extra screw port. Is this merely for an attachment system? Is there an awesome, extra add-on that will enhance the blaster further? So far, we don’t know. I guess we have to wait on Luke to tell us!
