Nerf Charity Drives! World Foam Alliance Livestream, Joy of Sox, Sub Zero Blaster Battle!

This post is slightly late, but better now than after the events! We have several community-oriented events raising money for good causes, ranging from a 24hr live stream this coming weekend to an indoor war in January! Let’s look at what’s going on!

World Foam Alliance Livestream

Coming up this weekend, lots of Nerf Community personalities, ranging from yours truly to American Foam to Dart Sweep to Dr Flux, will be part of the Foamsgiving 24hr livestream.

Starting on December 9th at 3pm EST (12pm PST), the various hosts are going to be talking, doing, and debating Nerf related subjects. There will be blaster auctions, raffles, and more, all raising money for Toys for Tots!

I’ll be on early Sunday morning (I need to get up early? On a weekend? EWWWWW!). But there are a ton of cool hosts that will be online during the week. You might find people doing a fast mod, or talking about the fun and perils of short form video. You might even see war updates from events going on that weekend!

Check the Youtube Channel this Saturday. Search for World Foam Alliance on Facebook to like and receive updates, including on the prizes. And subscribe to the channels in general to see any other content that bubbles up!

The Joy of Sox – In Memory of Thomas Corbett

This fundrasier has been going for a few years now. Many of us knew Tom, one of the founders of Containment Crew, be it from buying things to playing with him at events or even crashing at his place on occasion, He passed away early in 2020, but in his memory, there’s been an annual drive for socks. Because what else is truly necessary for playing HvZ, and what clothing item is often sorely overlooked when it comes to getting people the warmth they need?

This year’s drive (see the custom web page for the group’s contributions to the charity) is nearly halfway to the goal as of this post, but we can do better than that! Each $10 donated for The Joy of Sox gets you a raffle entry, and meeting the fundraising goal unlocks more prizes (or an increase in prize value). And we have a wide variety of people donating prizes. Silverfox Industries, Foam Pro Shop, Out of Darts, Dart Zone, Containment Crew, and more all have prizes waiting to be given away when the raffle is drawn next January. There’s even a Nerf Stryfe X, signed by the designers.

At the very least, pitch in $10. See if that raffle entry gets you anything!

Sub Zero Blaster Battle

Finally, we have a night of indoor battle coming this January to upstate NY, in memory of another community member, Liam Mattingly. Some of you may remember him as part of Rochester Institute of Technology’s HvZ club, as a member of the Rochester Radioactive competitive team, or as one of the interns that helped create the Gameface Trion. Sadly, he passed away last year, but there is a memorial scholarship in his name that lives on, and this event is meant to help contribute money to that fund.

As of this post, the tickets to the event itself are sold out. However, even if you’re not attending, there are options for purchasing raffle tickets or simply donating. At minimum, there is a Worker Seagull for the taking, as well as a custom made leather holster for the Dart Zone Max Outlaw. Given the time before the event, I’d expect more things to join that list.

With any luck, we’ll be able to raise enough money to help make the scholarship fund a permanent addition, so that next year, we can pick another charity and make a lasting contribution!
